Thanx for the update...makes me feel better.

I bought my '07 in August of 2008. I just went over the 34,000 km mark . Maybe I'll catch up to ya soon.

I just hit 1900 miles today. When I bought this bike new, I really thought I would ride it alot. But I work so much, have a house to maintain, and 6 cars to maintain so it really does not leave much time. Today was the first time in 3 weeks I have been able to ride, and only 3 times this year. I really envy all of you who get to ride so much.

I think you currently hold the record on here.

I average about 2000 miles a year on mine, that means mine would last me another 15 years.
Dealer says he's never seen a D-tracker with that many miles as most Japanese riders are fair weather types or get rid of their rides every couple of years.

You're right, Deej I wanted to put-up some photos of my latest trip, but I was riding through a typoon for most of it My slab rides aren't nearly as interesting as what most of you are doing though.

Some call me a bit over-zealous, but I stick stickly to oil changes every 3000 KM's and drive chains every 10,000KM's. Valves clearances are checked regularly and, believe it or not, are still within spec from new...that might have to do with slab vs dirt riding though.

Maybe you will indeed

I see a Super Tenere somewhere in the near future, so maybe the KLX will be getting less love anyway.

Yeah, you got the good KLR (old style). Not sure why all the newer ones burn oil.

Good to see some of the forum old timers still around.

I'm a contractor employed by that base. Was stationed there before I retired.

Yep and yep. The pull in the upper RPM range is classic KLX (starts tapering from about 7500 up). That basic curve doesn't really change unless you do a lot of non-bolt-on engine mods that get really expensive. The biggest noticable change with the cams is a boost in the upper midrange power.
