Mikuni TM33 Set-up
Have a new carb on the way and looking for some info. I spent quite a bit of time looking through this and other forums and found a ton of useful info. I would like to do the jetting and install myself and also bore it to a 34mm. The increase in bore size is where the info starts to get a little thin. Can anyone describe the boring process, how the carb parts are fixtured, direction of the bore, and any precautions. Not an expert myself but work with a bunch top notch machinists and toolmakers and should be able to talk one of them into doing it for me.

The above email is to a gentleman who has done the over-bore on the TM33 for quite a few KLX250 riders. AllIknow is that he offsets the bore toward the top of the carb so hedoesn'ttake any material from thebottom of the bore.
Most importantly, he fits an adapter ring that allowsproper fitment and gives the carby a good stand-offdistace from the head. I thinkhe makes the ring inner diameter .002 smaller than the carb, then heats thering in an oven at about 200 deg. Fandcools the carb in thefreezer prior tofitting ring to carb.

Great pics. Did you purchase the carb from Bill? What are your impressions on the performance gains? I couldn't resist the price, even if I have to pay to have it set up.

I'm still with the stock & w/all the mods...but I'm thinking it won't be long until the pipe, pumper 34 and a 300 kit will be making their way over....just have to get a good feel for the right pipe...Big Goob is out. I don't like loud pipes at all, so Muzzy may not work..this HMF I hear about is all new to me...I've had a Staintune on my F650GS and it worked great, was just about the right sound level, but JEEBUS they are expensive!

I'm still with the stock & w/all the mods...but I'm thinking it won't be long until the pipe, pumper 34 and a 300 kit will be making their way over....just have to get a good feel for the right pipe...Big Goob is out. I don't like loud pipes at all, so Muzzy may not work..this HMF I hear about is all new to me...I've had a Staintune on my F650GS and it worked great, was just about the right sound level, but JEEBUS they are expensive!

As far as the Muzzy goes, I like the sound, but it is loud. I rode through the neighborhood last night and everyone turned and looked, usually when still ablock away. That's also with the quite core insert.
I plan to get the suspension dialed in next, then start looking at the 300. Hoping the new carb will tide me over for awhile.

I initially thoughtthis was modified TM33, but the more Ilooked at itthe more differences I could see. One major difference is the cam in the top picture that allows fully adjustable accel pump squirt timing and duration. I was able to keep the push/pull throttle arrangement also.

Was able to get the Bill Blue modified TM33(34) installed tonight and took a rip through the neighborhood. Didn't get much speed but ran up to 7-8,000 rpm through third gear with the instant throttle responseand pulling hard up to 8k. Hands down the best mod to date. If you are on the fence about a pumper carb, get on it, you won't be disapointed. The install was a peice of cake and I think the TM33 actually went in easier than the stock carb.
