I did a 700 mile 4 day trip last August up to Vancouver. You learn to ride and stand a lot. 
Here's my bike all packed up. And don't listen to the guys about my side tanks, they worked great.
An example of the great roads on Vancouver Island. Trust me you have to stand through this.

Sorry, but I do not have pictures of the rotopax. I will see about getting some tomorrow, then learn how to post them. The 2 gallon container is about 1 inch wider than my borrego rack, therefore overhangs 1/2 inch on each side. I had tabs welded between the cross bars on the rack, drilled holes in the tabs, and bolt on the centre support for the containers.
I do not think that it is too much weight for the rack when I see the way that some of these bikes are loaded. But a 1 gallon tank is also available. Option - the Kolpin system is similar and has a 1 1/2 gallon tank. The Kolpin is blow molded and may not be as strong as the Rotopax.

Sweet, Im really digging those rotopax, now I gotta figure if the 1G is sufficient or if I should go for the 2G. I suppose you could always buy the 2G and fill it half full. I would love to see some pics of the rotopax mounted.
I was pestering corbin to make a seat for the 09 KLX, I never heard peep back, so I may go with that fancy Italiano version.
As for my saddle bags, Im thinking I could rig an arm off the rack that keeps the Ortlieb from melting. It would be a sad expensive lesson to see my prized saddle bags turn into a steamy river of melted German plastic. I'd also like to avoid my rear tire unraveling any danglers that get too low - HA! Here is what happened when my rear tire snaged the end of line of barbed wire a farmer left out. I didnt notice it till I stopped, tire didnt pop either:

Its frustrating being down in the states for work till xmas, while my ride sits at home collecting dust. Ill be home just in time to store it for winter. Meanwhile I've been collecting a pile of farkels for my ride including tires, racks, spockets, etc. just getting ready for a long trip next spring.
