I have been unsuccessful finding a frame lift stand for my KLX250SF, as I need one that will work with the limited frame-to-ground clearance of 9.5 inches.

Stability and quality are more important than price.

Suggestions?

 

Get a 2X8 from the lumber yard and make your own. That's what I did.

I have the Motorsport Products P12 lift/stand. Works great. Easy to raise and lower. Adjustable height.

I like the "lever" style stands for something like a KLX. They're light and portable. You can unbolt the handle so the whole setup will lay flat against anything. They are adjustable for height. I even used this one on my KLR650, so it is extremely strong.

 

I have 2 of the foot pedal styles I'll use for chain lube or quick repair. I don't trust either for pulling the forks or wheels, too unstable.

 

If portability is not a concern, I use this jack from Sears, it's nice for the garage, I've had mine for about 5 years. It's where my bike stays when I'm not riding it:

For races or wherever you need something more portable, I have one of those foot lever stands - they work nice, and are easy on the the back and definitely more portable, but are not as stable as the big jack up stand which is better for the garage, it also has wheels to move the bike around while it's on it.

 

I did the forks on the KLX last week. No problem with that stand. It's very stable.

 

i use a 5gal bucket.

 

Lifting the KLX is easy. Just put a flimsy automotive emergency screw jack under the bash plate and a cinderblock in front of it. Start turning the jack with one hand while holding the handlebar with the other, stopping periodically to shim on top of the cinderblock with scrap pieces of 2x6. Then when the wheel is off the ground, and the bike is teetering atop an unstable stack of junk, remove the wheel. That's what I do!
