Default Life Expectancy

How much life will an 09' KLX250 bike give me by doing the recommended maintenance and normal riding? I'd like to think 100,000k+?

Not sure but I think that is way off. I think 25k seems to be more realistic. I may be wrong though.

25 thousand miles or kilometers? He said 100,000 kilometers, which is only 62,000 miles, and I sure hope my bike lasts at least 40,000 miles. If this bike only lasts 25,000 kilometers, then I'm almost at half the life of the bike LOL

I have read around 25,000 miles. Sorry about that.
Good thing is its not to bad to rebuild one from what I read.

So life expectancy, we're lookin' at 25,000 miles before a complete tear-down? Still not that great sounding but not as bad as 25,000 kilometers.

My dad's got 10,000 miles on his '06 DRZ-400S and only just had to do valves, still runs great. Hope my bike's that good.

I honestly don't see them going out that soon. My slight work by then but not a rebuild. But honestly dont know. Maybe some other members will chime in. I would like to know myself.

I don't know, I think I'm more worried about my own life expectancy versus the KLX's.

I think it's more like 60,000 miles as long as you don't trash it all the time. I'll make a point of asking a very reliable source as soon as the Japanese 'obon' holiday is over next week.

I think most people are using two stokes or air cooled four strokes with steel sleeved cylinders as a frame of reference. The KLX is a much different animal.

The way I look at it right now, a major motor rebuild is just part of the price like gas and insurance. Motor cycle rebuilds aren't as expensive in general as automobile rebuilds so, hopefully it won't be too much of a financial problem when it comes due.

The other thing to consider is how the motorcycle is used and to factor in it's higher performance relative to a normal car for example. If you ride it hard versus leisurely, you should expect different maintenance and rebuild needs.

Based on what I'm seeing with my motorcycle, I'm thinking 50K to 80K miles is a reasonable target for engine life. A lot of the other stuff will already have been replaced or repaired long ago.
