Left Control Assembly Replacement
Hello All!
First time posting here so just wanted to say Hi and thanks for the great info in other posts here.
I have a 2022 KLX300. It's fantastic but sadly I managed to severely damage the left hand controls, specifically the plastic housing that holds all the switches for signals, lights, horn etc. I've managed to temporarily fix it with epoxy but I need to replace it. I spoke with my local Kawasaki dealer and the cost for the OEM part is quite a bit more than I wanted to spend right now. I was thinking I could replace it with a universal part like this.
I know I won't be able to use the connector and will have to solder the wires (I'd do this after the connector so that I can replace it with OEM down the road if I chose to). I was wondering though, as this control assembly comes with buttons for hazard lights and overtake light button, is it possible to get those working or should I just cap those wires?
Thanks!
Felix.

That is another option I have considered.
Do you know if the controls or plug has changed at all over the years? I'm just wondering if I could use one that's listed as from a 2018 KLX250 for example.
The replacement part from my 2022 is listed as #46091-0533 but one a 2018 it's #46091-0163. Just wondering if there is a real difference besides the numbers.

The listed part number fits 2021-2023 from what I saw. The key is what is controlled. If it is just horn, signals, and high beam I would say you could fit the 2018 unit, maybe change up the plugs, possibly popping the pins out of one and into the other, but the other possibility is to simply replace the broken plastic portion on your original unit if the plastics are the same in how it mounts. If the used part is relatively low priced it might be worth the risk.
In another line of thought, if the breaks are relatively big and you can remove the epoxy the plastic is ABS and could probably be glued up using black ABS pipe glue plumbers use to glue pipe. Has to be the black ABS, it actually has ABS plastic in the glue - black. Clean up the pieces then glue them up. The glue dries fast so you'd have to be quick in gluing it up.
