LED brake light to free up watts?

Hello, I am looking for a led brake light kit for my 2010 klx250s. Anyone have any suggestions? I want to try to free up some watts so I can try to run heated glove liners and jacket liner. I am also going to install a voltmeter so I can watch everything. Anybody else run heated gloves and jacket on their KLX250?

Thanks
Mike

I think most KLX riders use the "edge tail light" kit from wheelingcyclesupply.com

Just make sure it is the KLX kit. - I don't know what the amp draw is but wheeling should be able to answer that

Universal kit works good too.

I think it fits up nicer personally, less hidden under the fender plastic.

Just get a simple LED bulb for the stock tail light. Save watts and money. You can find them at any auto parts store.

heated jacket

I have run my 70 watt Aerostich heated jacket for hours at a time. My 478 garmin displays voltage and the bike runs at 12.9v w/ or w/o jacket. That is a stock bike w/ two gps, my led driving lights, and jacket running. Also, this was cruising on the street. Low rpm riding and idling the volts drops into the 11's, if you idled long enough you would discharge the battery.

Watt? I can see you but can't hear you... is it getting warm in here?

I like the edge kit but heard its not as bright and is hidden somewhat. I assume you run an LED bulb in your stock tailight? How do you like it. I think I would rather go this route than spend the money on a kit. I like my stock tail light.

If you want to keep it simple, stock lens, then look at the Happy Trails or Dual Star replacement LED units for the KLR650. They are much brighter and flash with the brake applied. A few $$, but they fit right in to the '06-'07 tail light. Don't know about '09+. They get attention. And I suppose save a few watts.
