KX450 rear fender on KLX250s

Putting up here for reference, I know this had been done before by others using the Maier and other fenders, I used an Acerbis rear from a KX450, cost was $20

KX250F/450F BLACK ACERBIS REAR
$20.88
Part #:257-8102-05
Vehicle:2006 KAWASAKI KX 250F
Color:Black

It is sitting a little high right now because I took the metal bushings (from the tool kit bolts) and put them between the frame and the fender. it needs some type of spacer there, but this is probably a bit high. I bought some 1/4" PVC to make spacers and bring it down just a tad. But if you want to do it on the cheap and reuse what you have, this is what it looks like.

I think it looks pretty good, you could probably spend more time fitting it to get it to fit closer to the stock fenders, but the closer it is to the fenders, the farther away from the seat it gets (as the KX fender is flat, and the stock 09+ fender is round right near the seat). The only thing I have to get a pic of is how I notched the portion under the seat to where it meshes with the stock undertail piece. i was also able to keep the under tail bolts (bolts on with 6 bolts total) and previous ones I saw they were removed and only held on with 2 or 4 of the tool bag bolt holes.

Hope that helps someone out.

HI there, That looks really good! looks like it lined up pretty well.....one that you may consider snapping a pic of or documenting is the interface on the underside, with the inner/lower fender. Especially for someone running "lidless" that would be an important detail.

Took some more pictures showing how the fender lines up under the seat and the notches I had to cut to allow a flap to slide under the existing undertail piece. Sealing is pretty good, might put a piece of tape or something along the seam to waterproof it.

The only outside shot is before I lowered the tail a bit so its sitting a little high, the rest are where i finally decided on, I used some 1/4" CPVC tubing to make little spacers that worked great.

Also has a 2013+ KX450 front fender on it which bolts up fine except for 2 washers needed on the rear bolts to help clearance.

Looks great! Did you use spacers between the fender and the subframe?
