klx650 timing out/need advice

hi all, have a 93 klx650 c model, my trouble started with a slit pop threw carb and a hanging throttle around 2500 rpm , thought is was a vacuum leak or trouble with carb so replaced it with 41mm pumper lol, trouble got worse , so dug further valve adj (found very tight) made adj new shims all 4 int+ex and also a manual cam chain adj , bike ran better will say but problem still there only ran around property few times, open motor again and again found valves just over the tight side again so shims again , and I am adj them on the loose side , now I also really studied manual and closely looking at things and found the timing a bit off , with cam sprocket marks dead on the flywheel t mark is on edge of window (plug hole) or with t mark on fly wheel aligned up with grove in window cam sprockets off about 1/2 tooth, so I pulled flywheel cover and flywheel to check lower chain marks and yes lower crankshaft timing chain sprocket off 1/2 tooth with marks on case, so I have a few q's manual says replace all gears with chains ? pricey and can I get gears still ? , next should I pull head to check valves the 2nd time I rode bike it wasn't giving any pop just throttle hang still , thanks

Go to the Yahoo KLX650 group and ask. I'm thinking the cam chain is off 1 tooth on the jackshaft. The KLX650 uses two chains with a jackshaft to use smaller cam sprockets to keep the engine height down. I'm betting it may have skipped a tooth when cams were pulled some time, but not sure. I've never had that problem. The guys on the Yahoo forum would know for sure.

Another place where the guys at the group also post is in the ADVriders Thumpers subdirectory in the KLX650 Riders Unite thread too.
