KLX351 Snowbike

Something that most of you haven't seen before. Nice that I can still ride my bike in January.

It's a lot of fun but there is a learning
curve.

The question is, can it pull a front sleddy?

doum 01-06-2019 02:17 AM

Nice!

Tacoma660 01-06-2019 12:02 PM

I find it at it's best in the tight wood trails, I use the same enduro trail for summer/winter.
As long as the loose snow is below the footpegs it run smooth, more than that it still goes but it's much harder.
The design was sold to a new company, they're already announcing a new model. I don't know what as changed, they don't say much on their website so far.

trails ok but works best in 2 plus feet of fresh snow. It's much more maneuverable than a snowmobile.

I would love see see pictures of more klx snow bikes and what kits everyone is running.

Tacoma660 01-07-2019 09:53 PM

i think only a few models exist for this bike

I'd like to see what others are running and if they are using the 351 or 250.

doum 01-08-2019 11:11 AM

Same explorer kit, powered by a 330.

Nice. Good to see someone with the same kit. I actually had to modify my kickstand mount post that the spring attached to because it was contacting. Have you had any issues? How does the klx show bike compare to the KTM?

wetfootnelly 01-10-2019 08:12 PM

i just watched some snowbike vids on youtube, looks like a great way to sidehill some great terrain through trees, etc.. pretty amazing what they can do really..

The ktm is 300cc two strokes so it does perform better on the ktm. The ktm is also higher to the ground so it's able to go through deeper snow.
The klx advantage is on cornering between trees, because it's lower for the same leaning angle the handlebar are not as close to the trees.
The 4 stroke advantage is mainly when we pull stuff, we've made some groomer to maintain a fatbike trail and it's easier to carry with the klx.
No issue with the kickstand mount as you can see here.

My spring pin mount on the bike was contacting the black arm on the explorer. I notice that pin was bent from the contact so I ended up using a removable solution. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
