I ran 3 different scenarios tonight.
1. KDX snorkel shortened. 4th gear pull to redline.

Lidless 4th gear pull to redline.

A little lean for sure. The horizontal line looks to be 13:1 AFR.
Not to mention it is so annoying I wouldn't do it for a 10 HP gain.

More to come.
I also did a couple of long 6th gear pulls with both lidless and PlanetKLX2 LID verying throttle position I will share later. Mr Sandman is throwing sand in my eyes at the moment.

Now we are getting somewhere !

You state that the runs are to redline. Isn't redline still at 10,500 rpm ? Not a big issue as the stock ECM muzzles the engine output above 8k rpm.

You've verified that with stock exhaust and the stock ECM, you can get away with using a KDX snorkel and a STP delete, but that's all. And those two mods really wake up the engine.

In the case of the EFI bikes, the airbox lid must remain on the airbox until a performance ECM, slipon (or full exhaust) , and a piggyback tuner are all installed and the tuner tuned for proper fueling.

Perhaps a run that starts at 50% throttle and gradually increases to 100% will show the exact point that closed loop stops and open loop begins...?

Sorry it was late and I posted in the wrong thread.
Moved to my original data logging thread....
Yes. My longer 6th gear pulls I play with the throttle position.
And I will share those later today....
Yeah 8500 might not be redline but it sure is done at that point.
I copied the posts from above and all further posts will be there.
Sorry for the confusion...

Well BDSB just posted another vid on KLX300 mods.
Here is the lowdown:
1. He is soon going to start offering his own design of airbox lid.
2. He is soon going to start offering his own design of a "velocity stack" for the airbox port - this is the port inside the filter cavity - it channels the filtered air toward the throttle body. This is a mod we did over a decade ago, but never verified the results, I still have one of these prototype "inserts".

3. He displays a dyno chart that he says proves a lidless airbox is no more effective than a lid without snorkel - All he really proves, once again, is that allowing WOT fueling to go super lean ( by improving airflow without refueling richer to compensate) causes significant power losses. It has been proven long ago that a lidless airbox is the highest performance option possible, when combined with a high-flow slipon or entire performance exhaust system AND the fueling is reset to 12.8:1 .....

While the guy seems to be offering information, I have no idea why he makes his dyno charts so difficult to read. They are gridded in really strange non whole number values. It's almost like he doesn't want you to be able to know the actual results. This leade me to believe he may be dishonest, however, I don't know for sure. I'd be curious of your take on the guy.
