Default KLX250s for us bigger guys?

Hello all! I'm new to the forum and I have a question. I am in the market for a duel sport and I was wondering if the KLX250s is for me. I currenty ride a WR450 but it is imposible to duel sport these things so what I guess I am asking is the 250 goona be enough power for me. I know it is more of a dirt bike then a road bike but I am just worried that I will be lacking in the power dept. I weigh 240lbs. Thanks in advance!

Basically the question is, if I put 60 lbs on the back of my bike... would it still accelerate OK. It's not ideal. You may need a stiffer rear and possible from springs. The "Free mods" and an aftermarket exhaust should get you plenty of power. Bone stock, I think it was a little lacking for me at 190lbs.

After completing all the mods possible It would have enough power to hall you around good but at 240lbs you are too much for the soft springs you would deffinantly have to go up on shock and fork springs. Depending on how tall you are you should probobly go with the DRZ 400S(36inch seat height) about a grand more $, stiffer suspension, more power, but heavy as all hell.

I wanted to give my 2 cents. I weigh 215 and my wife is just over 100 lbs. The bike handles both of us just fine in its stock state on the road. It will carry us between 73-77 mph on the highway. I do not take my wife off-road with me. The bike handles me fine. I've hit some steep climbs with it and it pulls me up without a hassle. I've also done a few 5 foot airs with no tire marks on the plastic. Don't worry too much about the weight. I still have not done anything to the bike - its totally stock. Mods will just make it that much better. The only trouble I'm having is adjusting from the 2 stroke kx to the 4 stroke klx. Hope it helps.

I'm 230 and it does fine, I am always surprised how fast I can get going from a stopped position.

At 210lbs the stock bike could not maintain speed in 6th gear with any kind of a head wind. With simple mods, all that's changed. It will pull now in 6th and has plenty of power for all I want to do.

Mine will accelerate in 6th gear if I have it between 6000 and 7000 RPMs going up hill and I weigh 190lbs??? But if I start going uphill and I don't have it in the 6000-7000 RPM range, then it will start to decelerate, but thats what 5th is for, and mine is completley stock.
