Default KLX250 - Mystery Part - Need Help Identifying

I recently purchased a 2006 KLX 250. I noticed a piece of plastic that was sitting on top of the engine between the engine and the gas tank. (aftermarket Acerbis)

Can anyone tell me what this piece is for and how it is supposed to be mounted/fastened?

Thanks!

Scroll through parts diagram see if anything pops out. Not looking like anything similar when I took apart my 2012 carb bike

Aha! We are looking at a CLAMP,HARNESS (PN: 92170):

Does it just sit on a cross piece of the frame? Not sure what it does.

Looks like it's job is to protect the wire harness from the heat of the engine. Seems like they could have routed the harness more AROUND the engine instead of across it, but I'm no engineer. Mystery Solved.
