Not as bright. Much smaller and "under" the rear fender as well. Probably good enough. I feel a little spooked riding at night with it.

And I have the red one! The smoked must be really dim.

When the brake light is engaged the brightness isn't bad but the tail light isn't too impressive. Looking at the photos it is about half the size of the OEM light too.

I really like the looks and how the edge light is out of the way. Still happy with the change but safety IS compromised.

I had the smoked Edge too. I did'nt realize how dim the brake was till I was behind a buddy on a DRZ with a smoked Edge. I immediately went to work retrofitting mine. There is a replacement LED board for the Edge available now for about $100. Seems a little steep to me though.

Cliffsta,
Looking at doing a similar cut of my fender to trim off that awful looking lower portion... Can you elaborate on what tool(s) you used (dremel?) and if you removed that portion of the fender first before you trimmed it?

With the Edge tail light kit, where do you put the electrical terminals since there is no place to hide them with the mod kit?

looks like my bolt-on tail light selection is limited to the edge...

should i use the stock blinkers or use a flush mount?

Use the 12oclocklabs upgrade board for the Edge tail light. It has integrated blinkers and it uses 16 superbright LEDs that are MUCH better than the ones that come stock with the tail light.

+1 definitely and the flash pattern when you hit the brakes is the ****. really draws attention.

Not to mention it makes the bike look even cleaner without "hanging" blinkers. Here's my bike.
