Default KLX Gas Tank Option

Hi all,
I am new to this forum, recently purchased a used 06 KLX250 to go along with my trusty 03 KLR650. I really like the weight and nimbleness of the KLX but am used to having 6 plus gallons of gas to depend on. I saw a mod that a friend performed on his WR250 and copied it on my KLX. I installed a rear rack plate from Flatland Racing and bolted on a Kolpin 1.5 gal. fuel tank. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Went for a 160 mile ride today and it was secure and couldn't feel the extra weight at all. I ride on a lot of rocky roads so I also installed one of Flatland's skidplates. Got my GPS wired up and am ready to put some miles on.

Thats not a bad option.
And if you also had either the IMS or Clarke tank, you would really have some range.
Keep us posted as to how it goes.
In particular, the added load on the sub-frame.

Wow a stock 06 ... don't see that often. I like.

How heavy is that lil tank .... the 06 rack does not like a lot of weight...tends to crack with time.....10lbs or less max.

Welcome to the forum....lets see a pic of the klr.

That is awesome. I have been looking for something like this.

I order a Nordic Rack and I ordered a SeaHorse Case SE520 (its like pelican 1450 but half the price - I'll send a quality report back after a few uses.

Where did you get the Koplin Tank? I saw one for ~$40. Did yours come with the Black Tee lock or is that something you made?

Have you used the Koplin for awhile now or is it new? Do you like it? Does it stay put?

Very nice. I think I want one

After some research I have yet another question...

I have been looking and I notice that you have a regular gas cap on your Koplin container. I have only seen the spout - that spout is gonna get ripped off in the first bush, did it come with two caps or is there a trick?

Do tell...

Thanks.

Looks like change from 8 kg all up with the rack. Should hold up.
