KLX choke relocation to handlbar
 

anyone done this? Its a PITA to find the choke lever each time. My ATV has it on the handlebar and its convenient

The choke shouldn't need easy access say on your handlebar. You use it to fire up the bike, that's it. Eventually you'll learn to find it by touch.

It would be nice if they was an extension. I dont really need it on the handle bars but am tired of fishing for it.

That's one of the things I like about my wife's bike (XT225) it has a ratcheting pull choke up in the center.

Time to visit a motorcycle wrecking yard and then make one for the KLX.

One of the control pods has a plastic plug that can be taken out and a choke lever installed in it's place. Any older street kawi probably has the parts you need(like a late 90's EX-500).
I get why you'd want to have it somewhere convenient, personally I like it all safe and sound and hard to find.

actually like the choke where it is...be kind of hard for a person not familiar with the klx to start and ride off....i think of it as a good safety measure...

I've seen one KLR guy replace his choke lever with a KLX unit. A lot of KLR650 guys move them off the handlebar because they tend to break when the bike gets tired and dirt naps. Suggest you try to find a KLR unit to try, EXCEPT the darned cable connector into the carb is plastic and tends to break. There's a metal replacement connector out there somewhere. If I hadn't have just taken the cable cutters to it, I'd offer the one off my KLR because it was replaced with this: Kawasaki KLR 650 Choke Enrichner Cable Eliminator Over 300 Sold | eBay

I too wish it was easier to find and operate with a gloved hand.

Odds are you could get the choke cable, the plunger piston and parts from a 1995 Kawasaki KLX650C and fit it to the carb if it is the same seze. It runs up to a tab that attaches to one of the fork clamp bolts if I remember right. I moved it when I put on bark busters, mine is attached to the bark buster attaching bolt.
