KLX 650 I picked up
Yea the paint scheme on mine aint gonna stay, hope to repaint the frame this winter and maybe change the plastics then along with updating the seat. Love the bike and how it rides.
Question, when riding at highway speeds do yall get a vibration that comes/goes? Not the engine vibration this is a little bit stronger (can see the front fender shake from this one). While riding the bike runs smooth and the handling is not affected. Just a quick vibration every few seconds. Would that be caused by the rim locks? (1 per wheel)

Yes. If u have 1 lock per wheel with no counterbalance it will make the tires vibrate much worse.
My DRZ E came like that and it was SCARY over 55. I didn't know any better until a guy told me. I got stick on lead weights from OReillys. Lubed the axle real good so it spun very easy. Set the axle up on jack stands and played with static balancing each rim. It takes awhile. Just tape them on and mess with them until it spins and almost stops anywhere.
I was amazed how much faster it got up to speed the first few times. Makes a big difference!

I will tell you don't screw with the cam drive, if it starts rattling do the manual tensioner. You don't want to try to short cut anything there, used heads aren't common. They suffer the tensioner failure quite frequently. They use a double cam chain set up for a drive reduction to run smaller sprockets on the cams to lower the engine height since it is a wet sump. So if the chains go bad it is two of them and isn''t an easy replacement. Like I say, this was the bike on which I learned about cam drives.
I will tell you it is one fun bike though. I'd love to see what the R model is like with the shorter swing arm.
Right now my plan is to do the DRz rear shock (laying in the garage, a 700 mile unit from an SM) and second set of wheels with 17" rims. I would like to eventually do a frame repaint and make a stepped seat ala MX bikes to keep from having that nuts-against-tank ride. It's a great all around ride though.
Awww, that's nothing deej. I had the Malibu Barbie color scheme on my KLR650. And you should see the little Malibu Barbie Dream House that came with it. Anyone know where I could pick up the Malibu Barbie Corvette?...dan888?...LOL!
