Default What a ride!

What an awesome day of riding yesterday! Rode about 120 miles worth or trails. Started in St. Croix National Forest, MN. Some really nice trails. I was there once before about a month ago but we nevere went this far. We rode some pretty dificult trails to the "Gandy Dancer" state trail. This is a kind of gravel road that runs straight up from Danbury, WI into MN and back into WI and goes all the way up into Supperior WI. There are miles upon miles of trails going off the Gandy Dancer into 3 different state forests.

This was a little bridge on the way to the Gandy Dancer. The next is a neat little hill going off the other side.

The Gandy Dancer. We were about to cruise about 50mph or so. Had to really keep you eyes open for deer. We must have seen close to a dozen.

Now this was our highlite of our ride. This is a bear we met on our ride and waited for him to leave before going past. I tried to crop and blow it up as much as possible and this is the best I could get. Sorry, the SLR with the 200 zoom is hard to carry. But wish I had it.

This was from the last ride and taken with my cell. This is also the Gandy Dancer going into WI from MN. This bridge goes accross the St. Croix River. This bridge is also very high up as you are looking down at the tree tops and we are about in the middle of it.

Can't wait to go again. Although I am really feeling the trip today.

Awesome!! Great pictures, looks like a blast. Those trails are really nice. Hey what is the material on the center of the bridges for? I don't recall ever seeing anything like that. Keep the pics coming.[sm=smiley20.gif]

It was a rubber strip that ran down the center of the bridge. I'm guessing the wood might get slippery when wet so they put the rubber down.

Where did you park? I have been there on my snowmobile but not on my bike yet, the rubber I believe is protection against snowmobiles. Did you need a pass? do you buy them in Danbury?

We parked in a small lot off 173 which is off of 48 from Hinckley. There is a small entrance to the trails there. We didn't even think of a WI pass until we saw a very small sign saying pass required. Or did I see that really small sign? I do have the MN off road registration. Which it says to put on the upper left of the license plate. Right where it screws to the bike. I will probably look into getting a pass as there are a ton of trails up in WI. We got so into it we had to look for gas. Not an easy task. Ended up in Dry Dock on the way back.. Gas, food, bar.

That makes sense with the rubber. Never thought about the sleds going over.

So far it's just me and a buddy that go riding since I bought the bike in December.Would be fun to have another if ever interested.
