A larger header such as a FSW or others will be much better than the stock 300 header, especially if you are going to a 300 or 331. I have tried the stock 300 header vs the FSW header with a 250, 300, and a 331. The FSW header makes a worth wile noticeable difference in all three.

Default 300 header and muffler on 250? sizing?

It is not overly loud, quite pleasant as long as you have the turn down tip. It is much quieter than my buddies FSW header/FMF exhaust combo and my FSW full system is quieter than his. I also have a quiet tip that I have never used. Another advantage is the 300 exhaust will never require re-packing. The aftermarket systems are much lighter, look cool, and require maintenance. I have not heard the FMF Q4 but it may be quieter than a stock KLX300 exhaust with a turn down tip. As with any exhaust upgrade it is important to do all the "free mods" and properly jet the bike.

Hey guys, sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have been reading several threads on different forums on the topic an my head is spining. I'm also new to all this so please bear with me....

Does an FSW 300 header bolt onto a 250 (mine a 2010) with no problems?

In a setup of an FSW with a stock 300 muffler, does it bolt onto the 250 with no problems? I've heard some people talk about length issues.

Is the turn down tip that is being recomended, what is that?

Currently I'm gonna try playing with my current 250 exhaust until I have money to do something else. I was gonna cut that small but plug out and stick a HMF end cap on for looks. I'm hoping that will let it beathe better. I know its not the best to do, but until I have the money.....

Thanks

300 header should fit as long as you use the 300 muffler as well. you wont be able to mix and match as the header length is different.

The outlet size on the 300 header is larger than the 250

The outlet connection size is different as well ?

So length and outlet size are both incompatible with the 250 muffler ? Just want to make sure i've got the facts straight.

Yes. We had this discussion before, and I measured and took pics of the two side by side. I'll see if I can find the thread

I've read that the aussie 250 comes with the 300 header, can anyone confirm this?

I dont want to buy a slip-on off ebay just to find it doesn't fit...

One more confusing piece of info....

the 250R header is exactly the same as the 300R header. The 250S header is smaller.
