Default Just a heads up on rotors

Not sure how many of you 09/10 owners have tried changing your front rotor yet, but if you haven't had it off the bike, I advise you do so before it sits too long. The genius at the factory in Tailand used 20 pounds of red Loktite on the bolts and I only managed to get two of the four out. The other two are going to have to be forcibly removed by someone with real tools (read: Not a home mechanic). So I advise any newer bike owners to break loose that rotor and clean out those bolts. A home job is now going to cost me at least an hour's labor with a shop somewhere.

you can't just drill the heads off, then tap them out?

Heat. Either cafeful usage of a propane torch or something more precise like a soldering gun.

+1 on the heat .. Someone on here recently mentioned that the red? loctite liquefies at 200 degrees. A heat gun is probably hot enough.
Good luck

Yeah, I've found a whole bunch of fasteners like that. Not only are they put in with gobs of locktite but they're way over-torqued too.

Every allen head on this bike has been over-tightened. All the bolts on the calipers for starters. C/S sprocket...

Its so frustrating for a simple DIY job like brakes is now going to become a two-weekend job.

You want to see over-tight - crack your motor open, and try to get off the drive gear, the oil pump screws, the flywheel nut, and the clutch basket.

I swear they contracted Paul Bunyon himself just to tighten those nuts down. Freakin retarded.

Impact tools are mandatory for working on motorcycles.

yes, had to use impact driver on oil pump screws.

I need to find a flywheel holder to get that flywheel nut off.
