IMS is Really Making the Molds for our Gas Tanks
So, got an email from Chuck at IMS and he sent me these two photos of the mold making process for our 2009 bikes:

At least we know they are working on them and the project is not still on the drawing board. It would be so nice to get a 200 mile range on my SF... |
Do you know if they will be making the tanks in a more attractive color, like red.

That looks like the one I'll wait for. pretty neat to be able to use the stock plastic.

Interesting to see the actual process. Thanks for sharing man!

I was hoping that they would ditch the stock radiator shrouds. Those buggers already stick way out there, are very fragile, and are very expensive to replace. That other tank company was able to create shrouds with tank material to eliminate the glass jaw stock shrouds, and add capacity.
Cool to see progress though. |
Will this tank also work for a 06' KLX. I would like to use a bigger tank, but I don't want to get rid of my shrouds or removing the cooling fan.

This is the tank i will wait for.
Although the Acerbis tank holds .5 gallon more fuel, you need to add a fuel pump to access it. Also, I would like to keep the bike to a more stock look that this tank will provide. Craig |
