Default Ignition, Lock position?

Ok maybe this is a serious noob question, I was reading the manual and it states "turn the handlebars fully to the left" to be able to lock the ignition. I am interpreting this as if the front wheel is to be pointing to the the left, the side the kick stand is on, just like as if you are going to turn to the left going really slow, duh, thats left in my books. But the only way I can lock my ignition is if I turn my wheel to point to the right of the bike, the opposite point of where the kick stand is on the bike. What am I missing here, something is *** backwards, maybe its my brain?? Could someone please correct me, the only way to lock the ignition is to turn the steering wheel completley to the "right", or like pushing on the left handle on the bike and pulling on the right handle. Is the bike suppose to sit like this with the kickstand down? Thanks for answering the noob questiong, this noob greatly appreciates it lol

no the wheel is supose to be to the left. It only has a small area in wich the key will turn to the lock position so turn the wheel all the way to the left then turn it back a little and fiddle with it a little it will work.

Aha,
Thanks, ya I had to fiddle with it, it would not lock with it fully to the left, but in just one little area just before it was turned fully left, thanks again.

It will work both ways, right and left just a fraction shy of full lock. I usually turn mine right but I know the big K says left

I had the same problem. As mentioned it will only lock a little before, not at full lock to the left. At least the problem is consistent... that means it's not a defect, only a minor design flaw.

Ditto. I thought it was busted until I learned that you don't turn it all the way left (or right) like it says but a bit short of full lock.

Plus you have to push down the key, which helps.

You don't do that when you get off the bike anyways? I do it every time I have a fun ride .
