How Often Do You Change Your Oil ?

Just seeing whats up...I just looked at mine and 650 miles Its Black
When bike was new I did 100/250/500/1000
and I don't remember it that black...Running full Syn 10/40

Once a year or 3,000 miles, which ever comes first. However, if I did a lot of dirt riding I would do it more often. I use Mobil 1 which seems to last longer too.

I've changed the oil twice.

Once because I wasn't sure if the motor had oil in it, it did, finally saw the sight glass.

Changed it anyways.

the second time I changed the oil I just wanted to see if the oil was dirty.

It wasn't.

the oil was cheap to change, just a good thing to do.

but next time I change the oil its going to be before I store it.

plan on using synthetic oil just to see if there is any difference. next year.

I cant remember what the filter is rated for on this bike, or the oil I'm using,

but I go by either the recommend mileage oil change interval, on either the oil filter box or oil bottle,

that's what I usually go by.

at least that's the plan.

I ride hard in the dirt. Air filter gets cleaned every ride. Oil gets changed every 2-3 rides. Oil filter every 2-3 oil changes. Average rides are 20-50 miles.

I do a lot of around town ripping and when I ride the highway I go for up to an hour at a time. I only hit the dirt every 6-8 weeks but when I do its usually 200-300 miles of good bashing, bike tipping, rock scraping and just revving the crap out of my bike to get up hills and what not. I usually change my oil and filter every 2,500-3,500 miles. At 2,500 it looks dark but not bad and by 3-3,500 miles it gets pretty black. I also notice towards 3k miles the transmission feels just a hair of a pinch less smooth when shifting. Its not a bad thing, and hell, its probably all in my head but the bike always seems to appreciate a good little service. I'm not sure why Kawi recommends such long service intervals but 20ish dollar oil changes seem like cheap insurance. I run Kawi filters and dead dinosaur Kawi 10W-40 oil. Oh, even by 3,500 miles if the oil is nasty the filter always looks great but it always gets changed regardless.

Should we not be using a blend oil instead of full synthetic? Heard full synthetic not good for clutch plates unless additives in it?

I do mine every 3000kms. Semi syn DELO.

every 1000 miles
and filter ever 2000 miles

if I wait until 2000 miles to change the oil my bike consumes too much oil
I think around 400ml even though the window shows oil, I always measure the oil I take out of every bike and put back in

1,000 to 1,500 miles riding dirt. Filter every other oil change.
Rotella T 15-40. It's inexpensive. If I were using an expensive synthetic, it would be run at least twice that many miles.

The problem is with synthetic oils that say 'energy conserving'. They will cause clutch problems.
