how kind would an authorized dealer be on this..

got my 2010 klx250s in late dec. from dealership w/ warranty. It already has about 2500 miles on it I was pretty good breaking it in slowly at first, change oil regularly, check fluids, filters ect but i completely forgot about taking the bike in for the mandatory 600mile first service, which is required under the warranty(and a over priced $300+ just for checking seals pretty much). So im quite a few miles past the marker!!!think they will void my warranty if i bring it in now?-again nothings wrong with it.
-gets use offroad(not really beat up..slightly bent handle bars from sliding in desert while ago but runs great, nothing broke) but 90% of use is 90 miles a week commuting off highway in phoenix(45mph stop n go..65mph tops at times)

The 1 year warranty is from kawasaki, its not dealer specific. If you wanted to you can take it to a different shop for warranty work. The 600 mile service is a rip off, they dont do much. My bike was in 3 differnt shops for warranty work. Not taking it in for the 600 mile service voiding the warranty sounds like the dealer just wants the money...

Under federal law, you are alowed to do your own maintance. When you do your 600 mile check, document the milage and date. Save the receipts for oil and filter. I put ckecks in front of each item on the maintance check list in the service manual as i did them. I also took a picture of the oil change.

I had warranty work done twice, and they never asked me about a 600 mile service, and that was after I had the shop do the jetting and pipe. Dont let anyone tell you what you can or can not do with your bike. If a dealer tells you that then take it somewhere else. ;)

Besides if they need proof of what I have or have not done to my bike I can always refer them to this site....I mean you guys will back me up right? Hello? Is anyone here?.....awwwww crap!

Only issue is if you did not do valve adjustments if there would be valve related issues you wanted warrantied. And yes, a good mechanic can tell if the work had been done.

Really though, the 600 mile inspection is not required to be done by a dealer as pointed out. Thing is, though, the valves do need checked just to be sure somewhere around 600-1000 miles. They lose clearance as they seat into the head and insufficient clearance can cause burnt valves... don't ask me how I know.

The factory service manual does not call for a valve clearance check at the 600 mile service.
I agree, it would be a good idea to do one, but if you don't, I can't see i being a warranty issue.
