High Seat Option for 2009 KLX250S?

Hello all,

I have searched the interwebs up and down before posting this question (and has you can imagine KLX250s and Seat turn up a ton of bad results). What high seat options are available for a 2009 KLX250S? I am 6'2" so the bike is already a little low for me in it's stock configuration.

I am looking for a seat option that does not require modding if possible. I would also be interested in a high seat that has softer foam. I know I will lose the added height for the gain of comfort in that situation but I commute on the bike so that would be better than nothing. I recently did a 6 hour ride on the bike and by the end of it I could barely sit on the seat!

I called GUTS Racing today and they do not offer a seat that will fit a 2009 at this point. :(

Thanks!

PB

You could raise the rear by changing the suspension links for the rear shock, some of these are cheap on ebay. If you did that you would want to raise the front as much as you could to try and stay level. The stock seat isn't designed for extended seat time as I took a long ride on mine and walked funny for about a day after.

Too bad GUTS doesn't have one for you. I put a GUTS tall seat with soft foam and gripper cover and love it. How different are the seats? Guts sends foam and cover, you pull off your old foam from the plastic base, and glue on new foam. Could you trim off some of the '06-'07 model foam to fit the '09 decently?

That's the thing - I have no idea and I don't know anyone nearby with an 07 or earlier to compare seats with to see if I could slightly modify the foam and make it fit. Anyone with an 07 or earlier happen to live in or near San Francisco so I can compare my seat to yours?

How are you going to get a taller and softer seat without modding?

The sides are a little taller on the 06-07 than the 09-up. I too have been looking, I think the GUTS kit will work, you'll just have a little more cover trimming to do.

I was on GUTS Racing's site only 5 minutes ago, looking for the same answer when I came up on the thread. That's the problem with the '09 (so far). Most aftermarket manu's only seem to go up to '07. In looking up stuff like this for my '09, you come across a lot of threads & posts that will say that many of the 07's parts are interchangeable with the '09, but not everything. I've often been tempted to just buy a seat (and other stuff) for an '07 & take my chances, but everything costs $$ and I hate to waste $$!

I did a 110 mile ride over the weekend, on all kind of terrain (highway, fireroad, single track, desert, forest....I live in SoCal) and was dying in the last 30 miles. I'm only 5'9", but I'm used to taller bikes. I wouldn't mind a black/green two tone seat cover (like the '07's) either.

Sargent may offer a taller seat for the '09..
I would contact them.
