High Mileage

How many miles on a klx 250 is considered a high mileage bike?

there is a couple threads on this already. People keep saying 25000 is bout it. I'll be really uncomfortable at 10k

I'd have to check my title but I believe mine had 14k at purchase.

i would say 15k might be high mileage, but only if the basic services havent been done yet (suspension oils, valves, chain). these bikes are pretty bullet proof motor wise, i know someone somewhere had 35k on klx300 dualsported i think in aus., so oil changes and valve adjustment and your good. outside of that its upkeep on the suspension parts like oil changes, seals replaced when needed (which i have put off), bearings, greased and replaced as needed (also put off), and chain and tires (also put off). with all those things pretty well used up on my bike, the thing still rides great and its about to turn 21K. the one "big" service i could see with a higher mileage bike is a top end rebuild. ive seen the bike has a tendency to pull the valves deeper into the seats with age, whether its the seats getting beat in or the valve deforming i dont know, but i could see 25K being the point the top end should rebuild for maintenance purposes. it might be in the hand book but i dont have it at the moment. either way, you know kawi makes the krl right, if the klx has ANY krl in it at all, were set for life.

16.2k in 14 months on my EFI SF. At least 90% of that was done on the freeway and we all know (hope so!) how good that is for an engine. Bike still runs good.

i was hoping to join the century club with the klx250sf...100,000 miles!...7,000+ miles in 7 months and sounds great....

although...i'm noticing my mileage is even more off...had my gps on yesterday and noticed at 70+ mph, speedo was off by 4 mph...88 mph on the speedo was 84 mph on the garmin gps....my rear tire is beginning to wear out...this the cause?.....it was off by 2 mph before....

Well my 06 is more like 6 miles per hour off! I think the older ones are run off the front and I hope going to a slightly taller tire next time will help that.

Time for you to get the valve clearance checked sir.
