Helmet cam from last Saturday
Here's the helmet cam from my ride last Saturday - these are the sandy trails a little farther south of me, around the Fayetteville area. We had a lot of fun this ride, this clip is the outgoing route of about 50 miles. At the end, we turned around and ran it all from the other direction, so this is 1/2 of the ride. Lots of flat sandy straights, pretty fast stuff, we were exploring looking for a route through the area to the other side, so we weren't pushing too hard, and this was the first ride on my new tires so I was getting a feel for them too. They did good.
I especially enjoyed the section starting around 10 minutes in, we take some side-sections that have lots of deep sand and some whoops to keep it interesting. The whoops were big but spaced pretty far apart, so they weren't bad. The camera always flattens this stuff out, so you can barely tell they are there in the video. At about 16 minutes in, watch me get soaked - man that water was cold, and I got *covered*. The water was clear and I could see the bottom so I thought it wasn't very deep - oops.

That's the new 690 enduro - that's one sweet bike! Feels small and trim, almost like mine, but it's a 654 cc. This is the bike they built to compete in the Dakar. He traded his BMW X Challenge for it. That's the one I helped install the Rekluse clutch in as part of the trade - the X. He's riding the 690 now, so far he says its great. This is the third bike he's owned since I've know him, though, so who knows how long this one will stay in his garage.
I like it. Looks like a little bit of rain made the sand a bit firmer. Great terrain. 44 seconds in I thought you would be flat out on the limiter, like "The Kniighter." Haha.

Nice bike. I'm still waiting to get the WR out for a ride. Today it could have happened but I had to go do some Harley maintanance. Oil,clutches, brake pads, cam chain tensioners ya know typical seasonal stuff. A friend tore a tendon in his shoulder so I had to do both our bikes. It was good just to be out wrenching without freezing to death.

That'd be a good place to wind it out as fast as you care to go, though. I've since added two teeth in the rear and I think that might be a little better, but maybe still a little high.

He's riding for BMW now. They need to get their bike sorted so he can win a round, or at least place top 5. I think he has DNF'd two races so far - the BEC and 1st round of the WEC.
