GPS VS Speedometer
Any of you guys with GPS units check the accuracy of your speedometers? I have a Garmin Quest but do not have a mount for the KLX. The reason I ask is it seems like the speedometer on the KLX is very optimistic. I was going an indicated 75 and it seemed like most people were passing me. BTW, I live in CT, not Montana...LOL

Mine seems to be off about 10 or 11 %. Dealer said that was normal and that it was not adjustable. [:@]

Regarding speed, though, at least in 6th gear I find I look at the RPM gauge instead of the speedometer since 4000 RPM = 40 MPH, 5000 RPM = 50 MPH, etc. This is with stock gearing - that will change if you've changed out the C/S sprocket for a smaller one or the rear sprocket for a larger one.
The inaccurate speedometer does bug me though. Apparently it is not adjustable, either. I'm contemplating building a new set of instruments to fix this.

That's a great idea! Your'e right, the "tachometer speedometer" is much more accurate. I think it's great that this bike has a tach, which is so rare on a dual purpose bike. Nobrakes discovered yet another use for the tach. LOL.
The inaccurate speedometer does not really bug me that much but the optimistic odometer does bother me a little bit. I thought I was getting 70 mpg but since it's 5% optimistic, I'm actually only getting 66.5...

??? I have never owned a bike without a tach, and I have owned a lot of dual purpose bikes ... oops I lie my YZ125 didn't have a tach .. but then I'm yet to see a MX bike with any instruments
