Gonna buy the carb stuff and 300cc
Iowaguy,
It was your post about the uniflow that made me add it to my upgrade list. I think I may be confused about the dyno jet kit. I thought it contained a different main and pilot jet.
Everyone
Speaking of horse power gains, how much HP gain do you guys think the carb, airbox, air filter, and pipe add. My guess is around 2 RWHP.
I saw some pics on the avrider thread .. dude has the 330 cc jug on there. Oh man.. I am jonesin for that.

I'm just speaking from my own experience - I have run both filters and while the UNI _may_ be a small improvement it is certainly not "profound", IMO. Ntloser has indicated on a few occaisions that money is a factor here and I'm just trying to help prioritize based on what worked best for me. That's no reason to tell someone to not listen to me just because I hold a different opinion / experience than your own.
The Dynojet kit is a great kit it has the needle and clip a drill bit and main jets you will need the stock piolet will be fine. I'll post where my setting are in a bit for you I have what your doing minus the 300cc kit
Thanks for all the help guys. I look forward to seeing the settings as well as any pics of the mods.
I am defininltey going to do all the free and carb type mods, but now its a toss up between what to get first. The suspension or 300/330 cc. I can't wait until it is all done!!!

I like your style, ntloser - you're given lemons, you make lemonade, making the best of a non-optimal situation, hell yeah!
Just remember, we all have our opinions on what works best - you need to judge for yourself what will be best for you in your situation and budget, of course. Ask 10 people on this or any on-line forum what works best and you'll get 10 different answers, guaranteed! But that's the great thing about owning your own bike - you get to set it up to your liking, no one elses. Also, of course, you don't have to do everything at once - I did my mods over many months as time an money permitted. I'm still not done - I find mod'ing and testing the results very enjoyable, actually.

If you're on a budget, I would suspect, no I would bet, no I'll guarantee that a pipe and carb work will make more power than a 300cc kit. 2 rwhp gain is not even close. I am thinking I have gained at least 10 horse with all my mods. I was gonna dyno it friday night but they wanted $50, no thanks.
The reason to buy the oem needle and other jets is that you can buy them cheaper than buying the whole dynojet kit. It's like $40 shipped from ronayers.com for the main jet, N1TC needle, circlip, and washer. The dyno kit is like $60 or so.
Regarding the Uni-filter- it IS the choice of all the factory MX teams, I doubt you'll see RC lining up at the gate with a stock filter in his airbox. You decide. For $25 or so, it's a no brainer for me. I wish you could ride my bike just so you can trust me.
Invest your money in a full system, carb mods which is cheap, filter, 13-tooth cs sprocket and you'll be happy. Adjust your suspension settings all to their max and you'll be good to go. Next year do the 300 kit or suspension springs. Changing springs in your forks really isn't that hard anyways. The rear should be ok if you jack the preload up and turn the compression to it's max setting. Unless you're full on MX'ing the thing, you'll be okay. We're not experts on here, and if your a little heavy you'll be okay 95% of the time. Just turn your settings to the max. People who revalve their shocks are usually not as good as they think they are. Some are, but others just like to bring a sticker to the gate.

10 hp that is quite a boost. over 50%.

10 more HP and maxing out the stock suspension will be just what I need for now. I the local stealership might be open later today. If it is, I am going to see if I can pick up the parts on my kawi card. If not I am going to try to order some off the Internet this week.
I am still waiting on a friend of a friend for help with the mods. But the more I read over and over, I think I can do it myself.
I don't have anything to measure tightening pressure on bolts.. Will I need that for the carb mods?
I am wondering if I should go with a bigger jet since I will have to box top off.EDIT (bigger than the 128 I listed above) EDIT
Have there been any new pipes on the scene beside the muzzy or big gun? Whats the deal with the slip on one?
Here is the parts list..
OIL CHANGE
52010-1053--------Element, Oil Filter
CARB
16009-1912--------Needle-Jet,N1TC
92143-1667--------Needle Collar (required for N1TC needle)
92037-1401--------Clamp, Needle Jet (Clip, required for N1TC needle)
2206--------------DynoJet Kit
PIPE
1014-00087--------Muzzy Full Exhaust <--- open to other pipes
AIR BOX
uni-filter not sure of the part number yet
GEARING
514XK-13----------13 Tooth CS - Sprocket Specialists < has anyone found a better on since this post?
And also this
Feel free to let me know if I am forgetting anything

looks good, just don't order that dumb dynojet kit. that will add unnecessary expense. order a 128 main and a 40 pilot (along with the N1TC needle and circlip and washer) if you so choose and it will only be around $10 for both jets- but the 40 pilot is really not necesary. I'd recommend the biggun full evoX system instead of Muzzy. There have been Muzzy owners on here talking about how they had to dent in their pipes to clear the rear footpeg as it is bent as such that it will not clear the footpeg when folded down. Also, there have been some Muzzy pipes sent out with missing spring holders. the biggun uses a clamp and no springs so it's much easier to work with and much much tighter. also, the biggun header is ceramic coated and will not turn colors on you or let stuff burn on. it's just a better overall system imo, but you get what you want. those rubber plugs are exactly what you need to cap off the open parts when you remove the smog system. there are 3 points where you'll use them. also, that sprocket and air filter can be had from denniskirk.com real cheap. just look up a sprocket for an XR650L as it uses the same sprocket, or a Ninja 250. the afam sprocket will probably cost you lots more than a JT like kirk has.

ntloser, I have the muzzy also. The fit is perfect (for the KLX 300 it was designed for {get it IOWA.....It was designed for the 300, NO rear pegs on that bike, it is not a design or manufacturing flaw, look it up in the catalog, can you find a Muzzy listing for the KLX 250 S ? Didn't think so.....), all spring holders were present, the right rear foot peg rubs a little when you change it's position but it is no big deal. Clamps are for cheap systems anyway. It costs more to build the spring system but it is easier to remove and install. I prefer stainless steel to a coating on mild steel. It is much more durable. I also do not mind a mark or two should I burn something on it. IT's A DIRT BIKE !
Sorry to respond to my own post but I was not clear.
The Big Gun is a good system also, I do not wish my comments to be misinterpreted as some sort of slam on Big Gun.
Yes I like the Muzzy a little more, yes I bought it, but in now way would I consider it a mistake for anyone to buy the Big Gun system. Honestly, why would anyone care what I think anyway!!!! LOL.
