Good option for 06/07 riders who are tall.

Yeah this one looks great. The bike I am riding is a 2010. Its funny, when I had my 2006 it always seemed like the aftermarket support was for the 2009+ bikes now it seems like it is the early bikes

First off, great job on the clean footpeg relocation John65. I moved mine back too and the results are way more cobbly looking than yours. Just shows you there's many ways to skin the cat. I'd copy your design if I were to do it again.

To address the OP's original concern I too found the stock bike a bit cramped. I'm 6'2 (almost) and I've done three things: moved the footpegs back (welding required), raised the handlebars 2" with Rox Risers and, best of all, lengthened the swingarm by an inch (should have gone 1.125 inches but oh well). I also re-shaped the seat to widen it a bit and take the dip out. It now feels like a full sized bike and it is more stable without losing a bit of it's nimbleness. Here's me astride the result:

BTW I tried a Guts tall seat but found it a bit narrow and even a bit too tall.

I'm 6-1 and never thought I was too tall for the bike. I do wish I could add 2 inches to the bars to raise them up. but all my cables are already tight.

I ride right up on the tank, and use my knees to make me and the bike one. Its hard to explain but its something that I have done since my first bike. Sitting too far back makes it just seem wrong.

At 6'1" with a 34 inseam the best thing for me was high bend CR bars and 1 inch risers. I don't have much riding experience to compare but that alone made the bike fit me better, both sitting and especially standing. New correct for my weight Race Tech springs were the best improvement for handling.

I've been scooting around on a KLR 650 as of late. Its for sure a more comfortable street bike but then it should be. One thing I like is that the suspension (2014 new addition) really absorbs the road bumps. I road down a washboard dirt rode yesterday and it was very comfy. The KLX by comparison on the road is pretty painful as the suspension seems pretty under sprung.

It really needs some work in that area too.
