Smile finding parts

Greetings,
I just joined today and I have a 2007 klx250s. The bike is brand new and I was hoping to get some good info on where to fine parts such as exhaust, plastics and or graphics. It is really hard to find parts for the klx on the after market department and I figured this whould be a great start. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you are looking for. There are several pages in the sticky "faq", and if you are looking for anything in particular, give the search a try. I can find those hard to get J-spec parts, but they are pretty expensive over here, so be prepared to break open the wallet.

Welcome!

Now that that's over. Get the factory carb parts, a Unifilter, and KLX-300 exhaust system cheap (<$100USD). Do the free mod's and enjoy. You should Moto-tune or do the factory break in and first service first though.

Now that you have derestricted it so it breathes freely, consider the Utah Skid Plate, UniBiker Radiator guards, and some better handlebars (ProTaper KX High in my case) and some handguards (Acerbis Ralley Pro in my case).

All these parts at one time would run ~$600 and will give you everything your going to want short of a smaller front sproket at one time. Put a few thousand miles on it and consider carb upgrades, big bore kits, etc. at that time.

I understand, I need to break it in first I only have 300mi on it. So do the stock KLX300s have a different header pipe? I notice that the stock klx250 header looks smaller than it should be judding by the flange. Exhaust is for sure my first concern, then carb parts.

Yes, the klx300 has a larger header, which will fit the 250, and make it run better. IF you change the exhaust and do the free mods, you may have to do the jetting, or it will run worse. Anyone with experience in this department, wanna chime in?

#132 main jet, #35 pilot jet, remove snorkel, crankcase breather mod, stock needle, FS 2 turns out (baseline.)
That's if you fit a slip on pipe.
You could raise the stock needle with washers if you fit a full system, otherwise get the KLX300 needle (N1TC), of go the DJ kit route. (you can DJ too if it's just a slip on, your choice.)

The stock models come very lean from the factory. If you derestrict intake and exhaust flows and don't rejet you will most likely trash the engine.

Initially I did a partial carb rejet when I dropped and lost the needle jet clip. The extra heat from the engine was hard to miss.

greetings,
I found that header part#18088 on (http://www.powersportspro.com/pages/.../Kawasaki.aspx )I found two different versions which one should I choose? If I get a klx-300 header is it fair to say that I can choose any klx 300 after market slip-on and they will bolt on to my klx-250? Thanks guys for sharing your knowlege and wisdom.

Thumbs up

Yes, if you get the klx300 header, you can use klx300 slip-on's. Our frames are the same, so they all should just bolt right on. Make sure you read and understand what was said by WestOzKLX from before

Don't want to have you run too lean and burn it up....
