Default electrical issue

Hi all, first time new thread poster long time member. Just to give you a little background about my knowledge of motorcycles/vehicles........its not much. Anyway, I turned the key on to my 2006 klx and for a split second I had electrical power, but then nothing. Thought it was the battery, recharged it and still nothing. I can't tell if the bike it in the on or off position, that is how dead it is. Could it be as simple as a fuse? Or possibly the whole key starter system? (whatever you would call it) Any opinions would be helpful. I am trying to avoid taking my bike to the stealership at all cost.

Thanks guys

remove the seat (remove two bolts on the top rear side)...check the two fuses first...there should be a spare if one happens to be out...

Check the connections at and near the battery, and follow the ground and see if it's tight.

Agreed, just check the fuses under the seat and go from there.
