I'm off to the store to get one of those. That plug is a bear to get out and in.

Hi guys,

The pics don't work from this old post. Can someone show me what the post above is explaining? Want a plug wrench for my 07, thanks a lot.

I'm hoping to find a solution that doesn't need me to unbolt the tank

yeah...didn't figure out a way to get to the plug without moving the gas tank out of the way a little bit...if you find a plug wrench that works, let us know...i use a plug socket with an adaptor to a small socket wrench...allows me to reach the plug without having to disconnect the fuel tank...6" exact...

The best solution I've found for removing the KLX sparkplug is a combination of a 13mm GearWrench look-a-like from Northern Tool, a 3/8" drive socket adapter, and a 5/8" deep well socket. It fits inside the opening in the engine head and has a fine tooth ratchet that allows reasonable ratcheting action. Works really slick...here's some pics:

I don't know how the tanks differe from 07 to a '10, but I just kinda finagle things in there until I somehow get it to fit, takes me about 10 min or so

Here's how you do it:
1. Pull off the spark plug wire.
2. Drop spark plug socket in.
3. Attach ratchet.
4. Break plug loose.
5. Remove ratchet.
6. Continue to loosen spark plug by hand.
7. Remove socket and plug.
8. Assembly is the reverse.

It really helps to have small hands.
