Drilling the slide
 

I've seen several folks on here talk about drilling the slide hole out on the vacuum slide in the carb (usually mentioned is using the drill bit that comes with the Dynojet kit. )

I'm just curious where this idea came from? The instructions say to use the drill bit to remove the fuel mixture plug cap, not to use on the slide.

Is this just creative internet forum engineering?

Your talking two different things. The instructions in the Dyno is talking about drilling the cap over the mixture screw so it can be removed and the screw adjusted.

Depends on what DJ kit you get. My #2206 kit (for KLX300) had a bit for drilling the existing slide hole just a tad larger. And a bit for the mix screw plug.

I understand the KLX250 kits (2009+) included a different slide spring instead of drilling the slide hole larger.

BSac, some dynojet kits include a drill bit for the slide as they do not come with a lighter spring as the KLX250s (2009+) kit does. The KLX300 kit has you drill the slide and comes with two bits one for the mixture plug and one for the slide. Some members have used the KLX300 kit on their 250s. ID & Vdubs, thanks guys, that explains it! I have the 09 kit so I was wondering where the duece people were coming up with that!

the hole in the side on the 2012 model was .100" i drilled it out to .113"

i believe that is 7/64s = .110" i couldn't find the drill :rolleyes:

the DJ kit came with a 5/32nd (.156") drill for the cap

The point is you either drill the slide or you change the spring according to which kit you get you don't do both.

i did both not knowing i didnt have to and the bike still runs fine
