Does a KLX come with factory tools?
Hello everyone. New member here. I am inches away from purchasing a new KLX250S and was wondering if they come with a factory toolkit? I noticed there is one available on the parts microfiche.
Also is there any major differences between the 06 and 07 models? All I can see is that the headlight plastic was changed from green/white to all white on the 07 models.
I am switching from an 05 CRF250X to this bike because I want something requiring less maint. and also street legal.
Will this bike be OK to ride to work on an 18 mile trip at 50-55mph two-lane?
Thanks!

Hi New guy, yes the bike comes with a tool kit, its very basic but adequete. You are right about the differences between 06 & 07. The bike would be fine for your commute. Good Luck.

Welcome to the forum (Name?).
It would be a good idea to give the KLX a ride before you buy, just so you have an idea of its power output. It will feel really slow compared to your CRF. There are a number of mods to improve that situation, from free minor hp gains to $1500-$2000 or more in major engine upgrades that will make it rip. For a commuter that works really well as a trail bike, it will do the job nicely as is. Expect in the range of 70 MPG too, which is good, since the tank runs dry at 1.9 Gallons. It will easily run 55, even 70 on the highway, unless you have a long hill or bad headwind. The tool kit is typical Jap bike fare with a plug wrench, pliers, screwdrivers and a couple of open end wrenches...I think that there is an 8mm socket in there too. Enough to do the basics on the trial.

I have a 15 mile commute that I run daily at 60-65 with no complaints, 3500 miles and still running strong. The mods below were cheap and made a vast improvement over stock as far as road going ability. Stock there were a few places where I'd have to have it pinned in 5th to maintain speed up the hills. Now I can motor along in 6th and maintain my speed.

I have a 30 mile round-trip commute (50-60 MPH), have been making it for almost two weeks now with no problems to speak of, in fact I look forward to the ride every day.
