Does Anyone Still Sell a Kit to Stroke the klx ... and could I use my 351 Piston?

Aka Stroker?

Just broke 30k miles on the old beater klx .... I was going to do a minor rebuild to pep her up a bit.....new stainless valves, some porting and cams and just thought....hmmmm they used to sell part to stroke the klx300, I want one. :D

Thoughts?

I don't know if 4 stroke works is still around but I'm sure Jerry Leighton(Stroker's builder) is still around. FourStrokeWorks - quality products and services for four-stroke motorcycles

Don't know if the 351 piston could be used again but it's a matter of mathematics if you know what to calculate. I'm sure there are others but for me, I'd go with someone who has lots of experience with the different combo's you could use to build these things...especially when it comes to stroking the motor.

Give me the WR450...thin as an mx bike and ultra reliable but in my woods, not nimble enough:)

:D

I guess I need to update my signature, I got a tagged ktm 300 xc-w smoker .... it's plenty nimble but I have to trailer the F'er.

With the klx I can just get on her and run for any amount of hours at 70 mph with 14-45 sprockets and still be able to actually ride a spot I find.

I like my klx :D .... I was just day dreaming a bit....but with as many miles as I have, I would split the case and stroke it if possible...well perhaps. :D

What do they do to stroke it? It's just a new crank and connecting rod, right? What would you do about your ignition timing. Wouldn't that need to be different?

I think the suggestion about getting ahold of Jerry is a very good one. He's already 'been there and done that,' so he knows all the tricks.

I'm pretty sure the case requires clearancing and I'm positive something would need done to either the con rod, pistion or both. The crankshaft would have to be reworked at a machine shop because the stroker cranks for the KLX are no longer made.
