Dirt Bagz

Has anyone tried out a set of saddlebags from Dirt Bagz? They make the Scout anda larger version, Ranger, for the KLX250S. Makes sensecarrying the weight lower in the back. But you know how that goes. Looking for a report from someone who has tried the product before I let loose of the cash.

RE: Dirt Bagz

I had them on my 2006 XL-650L and loved them. I will now have them on my KLX-250S because I just ordered them. I checked a while back (in a old post) to see if they made them. They were trying to get things together but their design stuff was out of Californa and they could not get a bike to fit up. It looks like they found one. They have real fast shipping and that's a plus. I ordered over the phone last time and the guys are sharp. They sell a lot of Honda bags and maybe even more DZR-400s ones.

I figure with high gas prices, the little Kawi is going to get even more popular for a do it all machine. ;)

Scott,
The larger set of bags are about 2' longer than the Scout. Curious as to what model you ordered. I want to be able to carry plenty of STUFF but concerned if there is any disadvantages to having the larger bags.

Jerry,
I ordered the Ranger because I had those before and liked them. The smaller ones might look a bit better but if I was worried about that, I would not have any bags at all. :) I will post some pictures when I get them mounted up.

Scott,
Nice set-up, I just mounted my Pelican 1200 today and now I think I'll order a set of these bags as I'm riding the be-jeesus out of my bike to save some gas money.

Dave,
I have the 1400 pelican because I got a deal on it. The 1200 nicer looking because it's smaller.

I hear you on using the bike as much as possible!!!;)

The instructions on the dirt bagz say to remove your passenger footpegs and use the original bolts with locktite. There is no way to use your footpegs that way. I used blue locktite and ditched the outside spring washer and reamed the dirt bagz lower bracket hole the same size as the bolt collar. The bracket then bolts to the outside of the footpeg. Heck here is a picture.

RE: Dirt Bagz

Does anyone use the Moto-Sport Panniers X-Duffle II (http://www.moto-sportpanniers.com/dirtbagz/extras.htm) from Dirt Bagz with the panniers? Does the duffle sit across the seat or, is it out on the luggage rack where it will break the subframe?

Any user reports or suggestions after using these bags for a while would be appreciated! Pictures of the X-Duffle mounted to a KLX would be appreciated too!

Also, will the front mounted carry-all bag hold fuel bottles? If so, what size and how many? I think I will mostly ride with a small backpack on so I can carry a Camelbak water bladder so, I've got a place for snacks too. I'm trying to figure out how to carry some 1 Liter fuel bottles separately from food and clothing and the carry-all bag looks like I might be able to carry a couple of fuel bottles in it.

Thanks!

Scott V.

Where do the frames attach at the top? Can we get a shot of that on the exhaust side. I was considering getting the Ranger but worried that the frame will not clear my muffler (it's a little bit bigger than a Muzzy).

Thanks!
