Decal removal?

So I have been looking at some pics on here of people that have removed all the decals on the bike. I like the look of this and am thinking of doing it to mine. I have the all black version.

Now I was wondering if anyone has run into the plastic having a new look under the decal. Mine is 2010 model. Does the plastic fade on these? Would hate to start peeling it off only to see where they had once been. Also any tips on removing them or do they come off pretty good?

have a 2009 and recently peeled it off and it came off clean and easy...didn't need to heat or anything...no marks on the plastic or any plastic fading...

My DTX is black, as well. I removed the stickers. They come off pretty easy and didnīt leave any glue.
The day I removed it, I could see the difference on the plastic, but only when looking close to the bike. Now itīs even and you canīt tell where the stickers were or if it had stickers.:cool:

I peeled decals off when the bike was over a year old, I did not notice any fade or discoloration.

@seth6025:

I also have the black plastics and I am fortunate that I also like the clean look of having no decals because they stripped right off the first time I took a pressure-washer to it!

There was a very slight difference in the appearance of the newly-exposed plastic but it quickly disappeared after a week or two of use.

Plastic polish will also help restore the previously-exposed plastic to a new appearance.

At only 3 months old, my black plastic was starting to look like crap from repeatedly laying it down. So I did this (with a spray can of truck bedliner from the local auto parts store):

Thanks! I forgot to mention, when I peeled the stickers off, there was a noticeable difference underneath from the surrounding area, due to swirl marks in the plastic where I had attempted to polish out scratches. Probably one application of polishing compound would have made it all look the same.

Hmmm.... Stickers are expensive to replace, so most people never replace them after making repairs. When I look at anything used, that's one indicator I always look for.

To me; nothing says "crashed" like missing stickers!

That may be true but I plan on driving this thing til there's nothing left. No sale on this baby. 351 coming soon!!
