Default Deacceleration popping

For what it's worth, here's a quote from a Mikuni Tuning Manual:

BACKFIRING IN EXHAUST SYSTEM
when the throttle is
closed, especially noticeable from high rpm, is not
caused by lean mixtures, although lean mixtures can
contribute to its intensity. This is a normal condition
when using high performance exhaust systems.

would it be the same idea with stock? only it is louder and more noticeable with aftermarket systems? cause i have my stock one drilled out and you can def hear it when you let off the gas and let it slow itself down

I was kinda worried about the decel pop from my bike until I heard the the decel noise from divodaves bike. Now his bike is loud, it sounds like a machine gun.

It is because of the decrased back pressure and the increase in flow. Like the OP a lean condition will exaggerate the situation.

I always thought that the popping will always be there, you just hear it on performance exhausts due to the straight through design vs. all the baffels and what not on the stock exhaust that eliminate it. I could be wrong though.

That is correct. Like stated before, since there is less back pressure and increased flow, there will be more backfiring.
