Default Is crazy water fun okay?

The other day there was quite a bit of rain. Alsmost a flash flood. It was crazy but fun driving the klx. Cars were stalling out .. huge puddles in parking areas and the KLX was going right through without any . At first I was trying to avoid getting soaked but I realized there was no way around it do on the way back home, I got on a 2 lane oneway road, I was in the left lane and there was an SUV in the right lane going slow but still throwing out a huge wake/wave. I drove in and out of that. I had to change outside before going in the house.. That was fun.

Since the bike didnt stall and still runs fine, can I assume that the water didnt get into places it shouldn;t?

Probably... Did you end up doing theCarb air vent mod and runningsecondary air intake lines to the top of your seat??

Cool you must have been in and out of those puddles in enough time to not suck up the water..

On a personalnote... I appear to be font /size challenged for some reason [&:]. Can someone please post what font and size they see when they are typing a response so I can reset mine?

Thx...

When I hit the fast reply button to type my response, the font and size looks like Times New Roman 1

Not to suck up the water? Is there air intake on the bottom of the bike? WTF? That seems like a bad idea? If water was sucked up into the carb, would it stall? Would it get in the engine?

Thanks for the font sizing!!

Yeah, I think I may have misstated the purpose of the carb air tube that are, YES, routed to just under your bike frame.

I think the purpose is to enable the Carb to breath which allows the vacume suction to work. I know that doing the carb air mod will enable you to run though fairly deep water (2 ft??) for as long as you need to provided it doesnt get into your air filter/seat etc...

Try these links to help better expain it then I can..

Yup, it's about the same effect as plugging those pink carb vent lines with your finger. With no positive pressure (atmospheric)acting against the fuel in the float bowl and the lower side of the diaphram things should come to halt pretty quickly. Pressure will equalized on both sides of the diaphram, so the spring pressure will close the slide. Also, no positive pressue will act upon the fuel in the bowl and consequently fuel will not be drawn into the carb barrel or venturi. The good part about it is that you haven't took-on any water when that happens. Just get the bike out of the water, so the vents are no longer obstructed.
