Is the countershaft nut 27mm?

I got my 13t front sprocket today (Moose #1212-0073, $16.95), but I need to pick up a socket to get the nut off. I gotmy calipers out and measured the nut. Looks like it's 27 mm. Does that sound familiar to anybody? Thanks Dan

I used a standard socket. I think 1 1/4" the metric set I bought was a Twelve point and I had the Air Impact Turn up to 150 psi to get the nut off. I was worried the the metric was going to round off the nut. The standard socket fit tight so I went that way. Good luck I hope you have Air tools.[:@]

Yes, a 27mm 6-point socket. You can get it off with a breaker bar with a quick HARD jerk if you have someone sitting on the bike.

Hey Dan, so I go out to the garage to check what size that big socket was that I had to buy when I first decided to change out my sprocket two years ago, and I got to the bench and there was a 27 and a 30 mm socket sitting there in the shelf. So being the OCD master that I am I now had to follow through with the time already invested and so I pulled the sprocket cover and it is indeed a 27 mm. I think the 30 mm that I also had was for something on my old 1980 VW Rabbit pickup that I had 15 years ago.

So the short answer? Yes its a 27 mm.[8D][8D][8D]

Oh I forgot, I have the 12 point, but I would recommend, if you can find one, to get the 6 point. Less chance of slipping.;)

12 point blow. They have caused more stripped hardware, bleeding knuckles, and temper tantrums than any other tool combined.

Under no circumstances should you ever buy a 12 point. ;)

The 30's for the steering stem nut. ;)
