Contemplating getting a KLX450 need opinions
 

Well, i'm after some thoughts on getting a KLX450 only due to the fact i'm getting a 'package' from work and it could see me in the ball park of getting one of these if i trade in my 250.
Has anyone ridden one and got any thoughts on them? I dont think my local dealers do ride days on these anymore as they're a bit of old news but i know it's lighter and with a bit more power so that can only mean two things.
1. i'd be having lots of fun
2. i'd end up in hospital with a smile on my face.

It's quite a different bike compared to the 250.
Much closer to a serious enduro.
It has been very well reviewed and, because it hasn't sold well compared to the say KTM or Yamaha, you can get a pretty good deal on them.

It isn't a commuter and is certainly towards the dirt end of dual sport.
But has full ADR compliance.:D

I like it. I like this more. Don't know if they'll be making one any time soon though. For value you cant really go past the Red Brigade. The CRF450X has a little extra to offer. Fat bars, steering damper, Barkbusters (2 sets,) Goodridge hoses and a spares kit pushing $1500. That's some serious value. I't would have to be a seriously sweet deal to stick with the green camp on a 450. Don't forget Yamaha will have an all new WRF450 out mid september.FI and reverse exhaust with resonator included.

the ADR compliance is a bonus, and i wouldn't be using it as a daily commuter so the dirt end of things is a good selling point. For me to act on the 1000 cash back offer today could land me in the hot water with the missus lol.

I'm wondering how the engine is in terms of maintainence compared to the crf's. I know it's kinda chalk and cheese but i dont want to be stripping it down every fourth ride.

i dont think i'd ever change from a kawasaki only due to the fact of how reliable they are and although my KX gave me a little grief it was just because it wasn't made for the rides i did on it. And plus, i'd have to change the sticker on my car if i became mutaneous :D

I work beside a Kaw dealership and the 450 is wicked as He&. You can get a dualsport light kit and retitle the bike as a motorcycle not a dirt bike and get it street legal.You get all the lights, blinkers and then buy your dot tires and your set

yeah over here in Aus it's road registerable from the dealership :D

Maintainence is the only issue with these bikes but it isn't as bad as it's made out to be.
Regular oil changes and valve clearance checks.

I was riding a few weeks back with some of the gun riders in the local enduro club.
They get asked all the time, which bike is best.
To a man there advice was....................... pick a colour.
They are all very, very good dirt bikes.
90% of riders wouldn't appreciate the differences.
90% of riders cant even be bothered to set them up properly.
They are all good.

ADB magazine had a shoot out in a recent addition.
Have read and pick a colour.

The Honda deal that Westoz is pointing at looks very good.
Me, I'd go KTM because they are Orange and are pure horn to look at.:D
Or maybe the Berg for the same reason.:confused:
But I really like my KLX now.:)
