Default connecting rod:where to buy

Hello,
i'm Mauro from Brescia,Italia.
Very probably i must change my KLX 340 connecting rod.
OEM parts give con rod with crankshaft.
Can you tell me where i can find a con rod kit for my bike?
Thanks
Mauro

oh that might be a hard one. id try to get a hold of kawi about that. I think they might only sell the rod w/crank, atleast like you said thats what oem parts dealer lists. Probably they balance the crank with the connecting rod. so no two are exactly the same due to irregularities in manufacturing. id say it probably isn't to easily interchangable. But I'm no expert

I've only heard of changing the crank and rod assembly, never just the rod.

Good luck

It has been done, but I don't know where the rod was sourced from. This involved pressing the cranshaft pin out, then back in because the rod is one solid peice. It may come down to taking all the measurements, including weight, then seeing if you can find something close.

Seems like there was a rebuild company using a Honda rod that closely matched the 107mm length of the unobtainable Kawa one. I suppose a slight length difference is made up by a varience in spacers or gaskets between case and cylinder.

Maybe try Four Stroke Works.
I wouldn't be surprised if Larry could steer you in the right direction.
From memory they did a stroked KLX300.
