Clutch wears out quickly

Bike: Kawasaki KLX250
Year: not sure, but seems to be around 2003/2004

A bit of background info.. I'm coming from more serious offroad/enduro bikes (WR450f / EXC 450 / etc.)
With these bikes I could pretty much ride all year without ever having to worry about clutch issues. I'm definitely not the type of rider that is hard on a clutch and why would I, these bikes have plenty of power for a normal rider like myself.

Now I'm using the KLX250 for dual sport motorcycle tours in Vietnam and every now and then we do a 'somewhat' technical climb. Something I could pretty much do with my eyes closed on the more serious enduro bikes but with the KLX it takes a bit more effort. Meaning, the engine doesn't always have enough power to get to the top so I have to feather the clutch a bit to keep the revs in a suitable range.

The other day I went riding with some local guys who ride 300 2 strokes and 350 enduro bikes and we did some interesting climbs. I had to go back to first gear and pivot my way up the hill while using the clutch quiet a lot. If I used this technique on my exc450 it would have been no problem at all and the clutch could have easily handled that kind of use.

Now it's only 2500km (1550 miles) since I replaced the plates and they are pretty much gone again. Not too impressed with the clutch on this bike.. But then again, I'm also not really doing the type of riding that the Kawi engineers had in mind for this bike.

I'm going to have to try some things to make this clutch a bit more bullet proof. Any ideas?
Is there such a thing as 'heavy duty clutch plates' for this bike?
