Clutch lever movement

so i have noticed my clutch lever has a lot of up and down free play. I am curious what causes this and also how to fix it. Let me know if this has happened to you and you know how to fix it

A bit of wear and the clamp slightly spreading Not unusual. i'd leave it alone... in fact that's what I have done.
