Default Clutch cable

Recently purchased a 2009 UK model (fi). Has Pro-taper bars but not really high and no risers.
Bars fully turned left the clutch cable is very tight and only works on last part of pull on the lever. Fully turned to the right there's plenty of slack.
There doesn't seem to be any other route for the cable.
Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks Anthony.
I did a search under 'clutch' before posting my thread but did not come up with anything.
Will check out the throttle too now.

Instead of replacing my cable when I added risers I just got a Moose Ezi Pull. Adds 3 to 4 inches of cable length and lightens the clutch pull.
Took a few minutes to set up but has been great for a few years now.

Thanks for that.
Any particular model of the Moose as the price seems to vary so much.
The cheapest seems to be the universal dirt bike one.

When I bought mine I just searched for klx250.
Universal may also work, but that is how I got mine.

If you get one, it is mildly fiddly to set up but having a slightly lighter pull helps on technical days.

This was my solution for a tight clutch cable: I just installed an '08 KLR650 clutch cable (p/n 54011-0556) on my '09 KLX250S. Went on quickly and easily. I had previously installed Pro-Taper handle bars, 3/4" risers and Tusk Lever Guards; which caused the clutch to disengage when turning a slow, hard left no matter how much I adjusted the OEM cable. My disengagement issues are now gone. Cost $14.17, plus shipping from No Limit Power Sports. The '08 cable is a different design (although the connects at either end of the cables are identical), but it works just as smoothly as the OEM.

Still no problems with this fix.

Thanks.
Before I got your response I ordered a klr 300 cable which am told is 2" longer.
