Clacking ? ?
Hi, I just bought a klx 250 last week and im kinda concerned of the sound/noise im hearing while in first gear starting out at LOW RPM. even through 2nd at low rpm it sounds kinda like a clacking rattling sound "only at lower rpm's "? ? I just wanna know if this is normal ? if not what could it be ? The bike only has 20 km's on her . Other than that the bike runs excelent, starts first try, good power "for stock" etc
Thanks in Advance..

Mine was exactly the way you describe -- but, as I hit the 200 miles mark on the speedometer, it has quieted down quite abit, so I no longer worry about it now. It really had me worried at first, though.
I think it's just the chain clattering around down there.
I'll mention it when I take it in for the first service.

Hmm, maybe it is the chain rattling down ? this is something im gonna check out. Could be the chain knocking on the Guard ?
Ill let you know what I find out

Yeah, I test rode another KLX and it makes the same noise/sound in the lower rpm's . Just wanted to know if that was the norm.

The only rattling I noticed was from the front fork guards. If you loosen the upper guard pieces and turn them so they put a little pressure on the lower guard pieces, it will take out 90% of the noise.
Maybe he's just talking about the slight knocking you hear if you load up the engine under 4000RPM. I think the engine is sort of stalling and the spark is too advanced for that heavy load. My sportbikes never liked being pushed hard at lower RPM's. Part throttle was OK, but giving it much more than 20% throttle would make a sort of knocking sound. I've always associated it with having the revs too low for the load your tring to push. It's not a Brigs and Stratton lawnmower engine, let her spin a little.
