Changing jets

Do you have to take the carb out to change jetting or can you just loosen it up to get at the bottom?

For the first time I would pull the carb. This allows you to remove the cover to the mixture screw and richen it. When I pulled mine the first time i replaced the bowl screws with allen head fasteners to make later removal easier.
You can do it while it's in the bike. Take all the cables and hoses off the carb, loosen the boots and spin the carb around so you can get at the bottom. It's tight but can be done. The info is on here somewhere already.

It may be possible, but it'd be faster and easier to just remove the carb. The only additional step to removing it vs. twisting it is removing the gas tank. The frustration of trying to work in such close quarters wouldn't be worth it.

The hardest part of the job was removing the tank, the shrouds, the seat, all those silly hoses, and then reintalling all that jive trying to line everything back up for the tank bolts through the radiator guards. I would love to avoid all that jive and just twist the carb.
