Carb vent and fuel lines
Could someone tell me the correct size and length fuel and vent lines needed for the stock KL250s carb? One of mine got a little close to the pipe and melted. thanks!
I don't think there's an "official" length, because when many people reinstall the carb, the lines aren't always exactly in the same routing position. I think the only important part is to insure that the end of your lines don't end right up above the suspension linkage. Even a properly set carb with an exact float/fuel level will dribble some fuel out of one of those hoses in rough terrain...and when you fall over, all three hoses can dribble fuel. You don't want gasoline "washing" your suspension link bearings. Yes, the linkage has seals, but I think anyone who's disassembled their linkage for servicing has seen, they are not at the sealing level of something like fork or crankcase seals. Gasoline is highly pervasive and can get past those rudimentary seals over time.
Just make sure the hoses are long enough to go through the collector at the back of the engine and just below the linkage at a point where gas won't dribble in the linkage bearings.
