Default california klx250?

anyone here know of anyone in california who owns one of these? for some stupid reason they are not for sale here. its probably due to the fact that here in california motorcycles are NOT subject to smog tests, yes its true we never have to get our motorcyles smog tested, ever. so maybe you sensed my sarcasm, i hope so because i laid it on pretty thick. how can a motorcycle that never has to pass a smog test not be legal for sale in cali? essentially my state would rather have me drive my 89 suv than a 2006 4 stroke motorcycle thats legal in 49 states except mine for no intelligent reason at all. so i came up with a good idea, since i fly for free because i work for a large airline, well,..........stay tuned for my adventure ps i paid 5400 out the door and pick her up next monday after they install the acerbis sport handguards with turn sigs and my green bars and green scott fusion II grips. just cant wait to pump all that carbon monoxide into our states air out of the half inch wide exhaust opening woo hoo!

That's too bad, but I don't understand why they don't test Motorcycles. Don't get me wrong I hope the county in Washington where I live never requires emission testing, but let's face it all internal combustion engines produce emissions to whatever degree. It doesn't seem fair to you guys in California that this is happening. And what would allow this bike to be sold there? is it a different spark arrestor? The way the bike is tuned? I am confused.

Sometimes I wonder is California is really part of the United States. Hell, by size and demographics, it could just be called USA II... but sort of the bizzaro land (superman comics) version. California is unfortunately loaded with ignorrant, socialist, tree hugging liberals that have decided their purpose in life is to lobby for pointless smog policies. Until SUV's and trucks have to meet emissions level similar to cars, why focus on recreational vehicles?

Nothing against California, sombody has to blaze the trails for everyone else ot follow, emmission policies started i nteh 1970's have gone a long way ot imrpove ari wuality in cities. I live in Iowa which is the polar opposite of California. A diprportionate percentage of Iowans smoke, are overweight and drive huge pick-up trucks. A disproportionate number of Californians are extremist health nuts, skinny (sometimes by surgery) and drive Japanesse cars and/or hybrid electric vehicles.

I guess the trick according to another post is to get an out of state address and have the car registered there.

I too had to "break the rules" and buy the bike out of state (AZ). No I just have to rack up 7500 miles ( or put a drill to the speedo cable) so I can register it as a used bike here in the communist state of kalifornia.

Imagine, people cracking the odometer to ADD miles to their bike. Maybe after it's registered, you should just take them back off.
